A Little Bit About New Hope T.E.C.'s Horses
Sassy is an 11 year old Sorrel Registered Appendix
Quarter Horse mare we have had since she was 2. The first
time she had shoes put on, at her previous owner, she was
beat by the farrier.
Sassy has long since over come being
abused and has become one of the favorite lesson horses
we have as well as a great all around horse that does
parades, trail rides, and has been used as a  4-H lessee.
Champ is a 30 year old White w/Sorrel Spots Arabian/ Welsh Pony Cross
Gelding we have had for 10 years.
Champ was rescued and donated by the
Greenwalt family. His former owner thought he looked pretty when he ran so
they sprayed him with water and beat him with a hose to make him run.
He is still skittish of Men but loves women and children.
Champ is semi retired,
we believe keeping him active and having an important job with the children
keeps him going in his old age. All young students use to start on him but now
we only put 6 yr olds weighing less then 60 pound on him for no more then 30
minutes at a time. He also has been a great all around horse doing parades,
trail riding, and has been used as a 4-H lessee
Renegade is a 18 year old Sorrel Quarter Horse Gelding we rescued at the age
11 from Shipshawanna Sale Barn kill pen. He was going to become dog food
because he had been hit by a Semi and was bazerk with fear and his face chest
and legs were gashed open with flesh hanging from him. We gave
Renegade
lots of TLC, and medical attention and then put him through our training
program. He is a favorite lesson horse to many now able to carry men and large
riders. He has taken to his new job here and loves to show off at the parades
and shows as well as an awesome trail horse. This guy can really jump too.
Maverick is a 7 year old Grey Thoroughbred Gelding formerly winning 1.8
million on the Arlington Park Track in Illinois. He injured his stifles and
and was donated to us by Joe Pierobon as a 3 year old for a new career.
Maverick is ridden by only our very advanced riders and is usually used by a
Senior Wrangler helping with classes as well as training our young or new
horses that come in.
Doc is a 12 year old Palomino Quarter Horse Gelding formerly used for
Roping, Reining and Cutting in his younger years. His owner before last was
very abusive to him causing him to be spooky about everything. Brenda Woosly
saved him from his abuse
Doc was put out to pasture for 7 years before striking
the interest of one of our most dedicated volunteers Mike Howell. Mike took
possession of
Doc early in 2004. After realising that Doc had several medical
and training issues Mike decided to donate him in hopes we could bring him
around and eventually use him as a lesson horse.
Doc has been with us for 6
months now and has come a long way. We believe now that he knows we aren't
going to hurt him, he will go to the end of the earth for us and he will be an
outstanding lesson horse.
